One in four women have experienced domestic violence sometime in their lifetime
The sisters of Alpha Chi Omega promote domestic violence awareness and prevention through the use of education, social media campaigns, and through our efforts to aid the Women's Resource Center of New River Valley. We believe that 1 in 4 women is 1 too many. Alpha Chi Omega strives to raise awareness of domestic violence in the Blacksburg community because it affects women, children, friends, and family that are in our backyard.
All of the proceeds from our philanthropy go directly to the Women's Center. Additionally, we collect canned foods and other in-need items for the shelter by working with local grocery stores (Kroger and Food Lion). These canned foods and other in-need items from Mock Rock stock the shelter for the ENTIRE year.
By promoting our philanthropy, we raise items and funds for the shelter while also spreading our message against domestic violence. The sisters at the Epsilon Tau chapter hope to spread their message to all of their peers at Virginia Tech, in order to make a safer campus for all.
